The aim of child/teenager counselling is to help a child/teenager to cope with specific challenges that are affecting them (e.g. emotional, social, developmental) and for their family to provide a better support system.
Allowing a child or teenager and thier family to express and work with a counsellor (Can be a clinical psychologist, registered counsellor or psychotherapist) to assist them in going through those tough and difficult situations through the developmental stages.
Professional observation and assessment to help identify any underlying developmental or behavioral problems a child may have, so that they can be addressed early.
Parent and child will learn new skill sets to cope with the challenges through a comprehensive mode (e.g. social, emotional and behavioural).
Therapist as a neutral third person in providing a safe space for the child and teenager to express themselves, explore issues and strengthen their coping skills.
