Introduction

Are you seeking to enhance your knowledge and confidence in addressing sexual concerns with your clients? Join our dynamic workshop where we will delve into the vital aspects of sex that every mental health professional should know.

Topic on sexuality is considered a ‘taboo’ for many cultures and countries. This issue is also commonly found in the helping profession whereby therapists struggle to help their clients talk about sex & sexuality due to the therapist’s discomfort with the topic, a lacked of insights into human sexuality and the limited resources and training available on this topic. This would ultimately restricts client’s options in therapy and deprived them of opportunities to experience fulfilment and growth from their treatment.

This workshop aims to provide the fundamental understanding of human sexuality and to build mental health professional’s confidence and competence in discussing sexuality issues with their client.

We will cover a wide range of topics, including sexual development, common sexual concerns, the impact of cultural and societal influences, and the relationship between sex and mental health. By deepening your understanding, you’ll be better equipped to discuss & address the complexities of sexuality that your clients may face.

It is open to mental health professionals & post-graduate students (e.g. Registered Counsellor, Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Para Counsellor, Postgraduate Psychology/Counselling Students who have completed at least 1 semester of practicum/internship).

The objectives of the workshop:

  1. To provide fundamental understanding on the psychology of human sexuality to mental health professionals.
  2. To build confidence for mental health professionals to discuss sexuality issues with clients
