Does anyone feel that they sometimes have cared too much, leading to fatigue or even burnout?
Many of us are caregivers in different roles & settings. In all caregiving relationships, when we empathetically resonate with people who are suffering, sometimes it can be draining & even overwhelming, leading to compassion fatigue or burnout. Compassion fatigue is not a weakness – it is a sign of being human. Everyone has different limit to how much pain of connection they can bear. When it is too much, we may shutdown/cut off & unfortunately we may begin to resent the person that we are caring for.
