Compassion Fatigue
Half-day Workshop

Loving others without losing yourself

Managing compassion fatigue in caregiving

Does anyone feel that they sometimes have cared too much, leading to fatigue or even burnout?

Many of us are caregivers in different roles & settings.  In all caregiving relationships, when we empathetically resonate with people who are suffering, sometimes it can be draining & even overwhelming, leading to compassion fatigue or burnout. Compassion fatigue is not a weakness – it is a sign of being human. Everyone has different limit to how much pain of connection they can bear. When it is too much, we may shutdown/cut off & unfortunately we may begin to resent the person that we are caring for.

This brief workshop is designed to provide some guidance on (including a few hands-on skills):

  1. How we can continue to be caring/loving/compassionate for someone who is already exhausting us?
  2. If we are too emotionally caught up in the suffering of others, how do we learn to care for oneself/to be self-compassionate?
