自高中开始，Shin 就一直想从事助人相关的行业。因此，他决定攻读心理学专业，并于 2007 年顺利从南澳大利亚大学 (UNISA) 毕业。
为了进一步追求他作为专业辅导师的资格，他决定在 HELP 大学攻读辅导学硕士学位。 2013年，他顺利毕业并获得马来西亚辅导局发出的专业执照，成为马来西亚的注册与执证辅导师。 2012 年，当他在当地一所大学担任学生辅导员时，他学习了性学相关的知识，并在这个领域找到了自己的热情。随后，Shin 加入了性咨询培训，目前是台湾性学会的认证性咨询师。
目前，他活跃于非政府组织，自 2012 年起在福利机构做义务咨商的工作。他也曾担任马来西亚性学会（雪隆区）的会长。
